Renting Movies Online

June 12, 2008 |

The Internet has spoiled me… it’s no secret. I pay all my bills online, research future purchases online, further my writing career online… I guess it stands to reason that I should enhance my ‘entertainment fix’ online as well.

With the price of gas rising every other second, I have been considering online movie rentals as an option. Honestly, the more I think about it, the better it sounds. It’s convenient, there are no late fees (for the procrastinator in me) and there are literally thousands of movies to choose from, in every genre imaginable.

Both Netflix and Blockbuster seem to have a wide variety of membership options. Netflix has the added perk of watching movies online, while Blockbuster gives you the option of turning in your movies, at your local store. You then take home the next movie, on your list.

I’ve spent a bit of time browsing both sites. I’ve already made note I’ve several movies, which sound interesting, that I’ve never heard of. This leads me to believe that if I do decide to take advantage of one of these vendors, I’ve never run low on movie choices.

Do you rent your movies online? Do you feel it’s worth the monthly fee you pay? Please leave your comments below. It will help me make my final decision.

It is so worth the money! We use Netflix and can’t believe we didn’t sign up with them sooner. We have a wild little 2 year old boy and we never know if we’re going to get to watch movies we rent or not, just depends on how early he goes to bed, etc. and we were losing money on movie rentals because we’d rent something and not get to watch it and then just have to return it by the due date unwatched. Netflix has no late fees, so we can get what we want and just keep until we get a chance to watch it, whenever that may be! It is great. I don’t know what we’d do without it, since we both love watching movies so much. And their selection is unbeatable.

    Hi there,

I am a reporter with First, trolling the mom blogs for tips. I noticed your blog above is about renting movies online. I was wondering if you’d like to share this tip with First magazine. I would need you to email me at ccoppa@bauerpublishing.com noting how renting movies online saves time and money. Please note full name, age, city and attach a photo.

    Thanks so much,

    CC

We signed up for Netflix when it first came out and have loved it ever since. It’s so convenient and their selection is great.
Thank goodness for Netflix in our house…
